Equipment Needs
What is supplied and what we recommend
Cleats:
Are a must have for many reasons. They should be plastic football cleats with no restrictions on color. Sometimes from the sideline that is the only way you know where your athlete is on the field is by the color of their cleats. Perhaps take a minute and spray them down with silicone protectant to offer some water resistance before they make their way to the field.
Mouth Piece:
We have and will provide mouthpieces but many players like to purchase their own. If you decide to purchase your own, please be sure the mouthguard you select has a helmet attachment. This is so the referees can see that your athlete has a mouth piece in from a distance. Coaches always have extras on hand just in case they are lost, damaged, or muddy. Please take that time to form fit the mouthpiece to your players bite, this takes 5 minutes and boiling water to accomplish the custom fit.
Water Jug::
Very important for your athlete to have at least 32-64 ounces of water available for clinics, practice, and games. Practices we will not be providing water on most days. Game days coaches or volunteer parents are expected to have provided water bottles to be carried onto the field for timeouts and breaks in the game. Before the game, half time, and after the game will be the time to have that jug available. NO Gatorade on field during games. Referees have been known to throw a flag, please only water in the jug.

Most High Schools have transitioned to this form of protective gear. This can help in the transition from practice to game pants with less need to move pads from one set of pants to another. We still have traditional pants with all the necessary pads including hip, butt, thigh, knee so this is not a requirement. We STRONGLY recommend the 5-pad version, however it is your choice.
Guardian Cap Amazon Link
Safety is a priority on the field and practice is where it begins. We are working to find funding to make these caps available to every player in Braddock Road to wear during practice. We would like to see our players use these protective measures as it is done at the Pro and Collegiate levels. If you have a sponsor that could help us outfit our entire club with these caps, please put us in touch with them and we would make this mandatory during our practices. Games, at this time, we would not be using them.
